just dloadet a bunch of PC-Demos on "Back2Roots" and stumbled over some demos from farbrausch.

They have made a 64k intro with 11 pieces of music from their demos, and i dont know if it´s a new tracker, but the music is in same quality as a 128kb/sec MP3! BUT you cant compress 11 pieces of mp3 streams into a 64k demo..!!.. ..gah?? through, it sounds a bit like synth modules..

Maby its a new tracker, and then a new job for Florian/Peter

The demo is awailable here:
http://home19.inet.tele.dk/tld-data/fr-028.zip

and other demos by farbrausch at:
http://www.back2roots.org/Demos/Win32/F/

Tell me what you think!!! They rocks!

The music in most farbrausch demos is indeed incredible, if you take the size of the demos into account. Of course these are synth modules (the sound samples, textures and everything else in those 64k demos is specified as a set of parameters for functions which either precalculate the data or generate it in realtime).
New tracker? The first 64k demo from farbrausch was ".the .product", released in 2000. AFAIK the songs are actually MIDIs conposed in logic audio and later played by a custom replay. On KB's hompage, you can download a WAV renderer for the song in ".the .product".
Of course we would happily make a new player if KB (Tammo Hinrichs) would provide us the necessary sources

farbrausch are using their own software synth, its called "ViruzII". In an interview on Scene Report, Ronny Pries mentions it and lists some of its features: http://www.scenerep.org/scenezine/issue3.php

(it even has a softspeech synthesizer! you can hear it in the "Candytron" 64k intro - fr-030 - ...it almost blew me off my chair when I heard that the first time)

Since RP writes it *is* available as a standalone program (as well as a VST plugin... anyone can get their hands on it? hehe) this could mean there's a slight chance of creating a standalone player for it as well... ?

Uhm... I bet this doesn't please the farbrausch guys, but I found something...

http://xdata.port5.com/pub/viruz2.rar

ViruzII engine disassembled & packed into a standalone player. Includes two songs in "V2M" format, as well. It may be start, right?

Hmmm... move this thread to feature requests maybe?

How do you rip these? Do you have the Ryg mod of UPX that is used to pack the farbrausch stuff?

Other than that... I don't know if there's different versions of the engine out there.

hmm, a bit lame, but effective:

1. Start WinHex
2. Run the Brullwurfe.exe
3. Open Ram Editor in winhex, and open Brullwurfe.exe when it have unpacked it self..
4. Hunt for "à"

If you have the "Ryg mod of UPX" please tell me where i can dload it...
.. cant wait to play the music in fr-030_Final, it really rocks!!!!

Just listening to the fr028.... and you are right.... it is amazing. The sound is fantastic and the fact that it is only 64 kb. is quite cool Cool

just re-ripped some of the V2M tunes from their original demos:

Fr-08 das product, and the 2 tunes is loaded and played by the standalone player " http://xdata.port5.com/pub/viruz2.rar " but theres no sound!! Sad so, i think the farbrausch guys has re-written somthing, thought the fr-08 came before fr-10 and fr-11

The fr-08 tunes can be found here: http://home19.inet.tele.dk/tld-data/fr-08.zip

And yes!, it could be really cool to have DP2 play ViruZII tunes... Peter

Too bad that the sound is missing... but since the player accepts the modules you must be on the right track Cool

Just dloaded the wonderful ViruzII pakage, and tested it, you rock!!!

but..

I think there have been some updates in the viruzii, coz it cant play any
other modules, only the two there comes with the pagage... Sad
Hope you could figure somthing out....

yes thats true. every demo of FR comes with an updated viruz II engine. but
the differences in the format itself are not very big. i have to compare the
disassembled source of The Product to see what the problem is. maybe i find
a little bit time tomorrow to do this.
maybe i can also code an little generic miditov2m / v2mtomidi converter.
that would be a great help to do own musical stuff

greets, Sebastian (BrainSlayer / CUD)
