I hope at least the developers release it if they decide to withdraw from developing. Or rather: when they realize they are not coming back.

Well the bad things is that ppl start looking for alternative players since there's so long between changes. At least it would have been nice to se a WIP release every 3 months or so regardless of how buggy it might be. It's perhaps better to give ppl a taste of what's to come instead of no taste at all.

Mmm, WIP releases... It would certainly keep the early adopters among us happy, who updates just for the sake of updating. (good when you're bored too)
Why test your code thoroughly when the users can do the job for you?
