Frequently Asked Questions

Question When using DeliPlayer's StreamRecorder to save Amiga modules to WAV or MP3 files, the quality is bad/the output sounds muffled. Why ?
Answer You seem to have selected 'Studio' or 'Quadratic' mix quality. These modes produce the 'best' quality because they remove an usually unwanted effect, the so called 'aliasing', from the output. However, in Amiga, Atari and C64 tunes, the aliasing is (almost) always a desired effect. You should use the 'Oversampling' or even 'Scaled' mixing modes to achieve the 'crisp'iest results for such modules.

Question Why are Buzz (bmx/bmw), MadTracker (mtm), Psycle, TraxVox (xfm) songs not supported ?
Answer The above named programs are - amongst others - so called 'third generation trackers'. Unlike older trackers like ProTracker, FastTracker and ImpulseTracker, they are not limited to sample-based tracking and do not or not only have built-in 'effects', but also (heavily) rely on external 'plug-ins' in their own custom format or general plug-ins such as Steinberg's VST or DirectX (Buzz for example can not even play a single sample without a tracker plug-in, of which many exist).
There is a vast amount of plug-ins available, some freeware, some commercial. These plug-ins are usually not distributed together with the song. Thus, you can't replay the song if you don't have the required plug-ins.
These trackers are designed to create music in a much more sophisticated way and the resulting songs are usually rendered to WAV and then converted to MP3 format.
There is no way to replay a song unless you have all the plug-ins that are required by one specific song. Furthermore, a possible player would need to incorporate large amounts of the original programs' functionality.
Therefore, it makes no sense to build players for DeliPlayer (or any other multi-purpose player) for these formats. It is impossible to supply all the required plug-ins with the player itself. Even if there was a player, every time you download a new song you would need to start hunting the required plug-ins, which is quite a nuisance or simply impossible (in case of commercial plug-ins).

Question When trying to play anything, I get the error 'Attempted to open with an unsupported waveform-audio format'
Solution  Open the server's configuration window (trayicon RMB menu), and select the 'WaveOut' plug-in in 'Genies' tree. Select your soundcard as Output Device instead of the 'Auto - Wave Mapper' and save the settings.

Question DeliPlayer fails when I start it on my Windows95/98(first edition) system. Why ?
Answer Your DCOM system is probably too old. See the Download page for a link to the DCOM upgrade.

Question DeliPlayer crashes now and then on my Window98 system. Why ?
Answer The problem is probably an old version of DCOM on your computer. Download and install DCOM 1.3 for Windows® 98. See the Download page for a link to the DCOM upgrade.

Question DeliPlayer rejects some of my Amiga custom tunes. Why ?
Answer Those custom modules are in most cases corrupt or amateurish 'ripped'. Try to get other versions from a more reliable source.

Question Why does DeliPlayer reject several modules that other players accept ?
Answer DeliPlayer is quite picky about corrupt modules. This might seem as a drawback on the first glance, but in the end it will hopefully help to reduce the number of corrupt tunes in your collection.

Question Will there be a Linux-version ?
Answer DeliPlayer will not be ported to Linux or any other OS in the next time. We simply don't have enough time to do that. As we don't want to give the development of DeliPlayer into other hands, please understand that we currently refuse all help offers.
