DP2 is currently not multi-user aware. It stores its configuration in %PROGRAMDIR%\configs by default. But %PROGRAMDIR% is a system path, and limited user accounts have no write access there.
Easiest solution (only for Win NT4/2k/XP Pro - NOT for XP Home, thanks to Microsoft): log in with an administrative account, navigate to the Program Files folder, locate the DP2 folder, and change the permission of the entire folder for the "Users" group to full access. More refined permissions can be applied if you monitor which files are accessed with SysInternals Filemon for example, and take notes which access fails.
By default, DP also wants to store the Playlist in %PROGRAMDIR%, which is also doomed to fail if you don't have administrative rights. Simply select "Playlist / Save As..." from the right mouse button context menu and store in in your documents folder. DP remembers the saved path and reloads the playlist correctly next time you start it. |
